Botox Lip Flip Toronto
Cosmetic patients have a new favourite treatment in Toronto, and it’s called Botox lip flip. It’s a subtle pout-enhancer, taking the place of lip filler for some. If you’ve heard of the Botox lip flip and wondered why it’s creating a buzz, read on for details about this beauty treatment.
The biggest lips aren’t necessarily the best. Lip augmentation trends are shifting toward subtle, natural volume and contour enhancements.
Dr. Cory Torgerson is an experienced otolaryngologist specializing in head and neck surgery. However, one of his favourite ways to rejuvenate and enhance features is through cosmetic injections. His latest tool for luscious lip augmentation doesn’t require lip filler. Instead, it uses tiny “baby” Botox units (or small doses of other neuromodulators).
This quick, in-office treatment can help rotate out the lip edges ever so slightly. Attractive lip fullness without added volume is possible through lip flip Botox! It’s a subtle change, but natural beauty is all the rage for many of Dr. Torgerson’s patients. Read on to discover whether this lip enhancement is right for you.
What’s Lip Flip Botox?
About Lip Flip
The Botox lip flip describes a fast, cosmetic injection that can roll the upper lip outward just enough to make mucosal tissue (pink) more visible. When more pink is exposed, the lips may appear fuller. This contouring enhancement lasts between 6 and 8 weeks on average, and it doesn’t require stitches or scars.
Is Lip Flip Botox Different than Lip Fillers?
Lip augmentation, also known as lip filler, is typically done with hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. HA gels such as Juvéderm, Volbella, Restylane, and Vollure are thick, so when they’re injected into the lips, they increase volume for roughly 4 to 6 months. HA gel is broken down and absorbed by the body over time.
Botox, Dysport, Nuceiva, and Xeomin are neuromodulators, and they don’t add volume or “fill”. Instead, they are medications used to reduce muscle movement temporarily. When injected superficially over the upper lip muscle (orbicularis oris), the downward tension relaxes, and the lip can flip/curve back, rotating out slightly.
Filler and Botox are different cosmetic tools, but the two are often used together in the lips and the whole face. If you want to improve lip contour and increase the volume of your pout, you might choose between these methods or even choose both!
Lip Flip Procedure
How Is Lip Flip Botox Done?
Dr. Torgerson uses cosmetic injections in the superficial layers of muscle just outside the lip borders. A very fine needle is used to administer medication, which reduces signals to muscles. At the same time, deeper lip muscles maintain their movement. This thin, targeted muscle fibre layer receives only 1 or 2 units at each key point. It’s a much lower dose than what’s used for other areas of the face, like the frown lines.
Baby Botox doses are relatively short-lived. The product effects can wear off as soon as 4 to 6 weeks after treatment. To maintain the look, patients are advised to repeat the procedure every 6 to 8 weeks with ultra quick touch-up appointments.
Because the lip flip is a technically precise treatment, we recommend that you visit highly experienced and qualified injectors to ensure that you’ll love the result.
Does a Botox Lip Flip Hurt?
You’ll be pleased to know that the injections around your lips will be so small, you may feel only a pinch or nothing at all. Dr. Torgerson will apply a numbing cream before your treatment, and most patients describe the experience as entirely comfortable. The best part is, the whole process takes only a few minutes.
Is There Downtime After Toronto Lip Flip Botox Treatment?
Lip Flip Recovery & Downtime
Luckily, there’s virtually no downtime to worry about, and this beauty treatment is incredibly convenient. Bruising is possible with any injection, but shallow needle pokes don’t typically cause significant swelling or bruising.
Most of our patients resume regular activities or work without interruption following lip flip treatment. You can define your lips over a lunch break and immediately get back to your routine!
The primary risk for this delicate aesthetic “tweak” is having too much product placed. When it comes to neuromodulators around the mouth, less is more. Therefore, you’ll need an experienced, precise practitioner who won’t overdo the enhancement.
Why Lip Flip?
You May Love Lip Flip Botox If:
- You want a slightly “poutier” mouth
- Your upper lip thins when you smile
- You’ve tried lip filler, but didn’t like the result
- You want a temporary enhancement that will dissolve in roughly 6 weeks
- You’d like to enhance or perk up your lips, but you don’t want to increase their size
Lip Flip Recommendations
Dr. Torgerson May Recommend Lip Filler or a Combination Lip Flip If:
- You want more lip volume
- You wish to smooth lip lines and the lines around your mouth
- You have a pronounced lip asymmetry
- You want long-lasting lip augmentation (4 to 6 months)
- You’re seeking dramatic reshaping and a volume increase for upper and lower lips
For selfie-ready Botox lip flip before and after results, certain features help create the desired look. You may be a good candidate if you start with a well-defined vermillion border (outer lip edge).
You’re welcome to meet with Dr. Torgerson for an assessment and determine the best approach to get lips you love!
The First Step Of Your Journey Begins With A Conversation
What Are the Lip Flip Botox Side Effects?
Lip Flip Side Effects
The primary concern with administering too much Botox around the mouth is that speaking and moving the mouth could become a challenge. Too much neuromodulator in those muscles can become apparent when attempting to speak, suck through a straw, or whistle. The more product used, the longer it will usually take to wear off.
Only the thin, upper layer of orbicularis muscle is affected because we use such low micro-doses. You can expect your lips to retain regular movement. Unfortunately, the trade-off of subtle dosage is that the effects don’t last as long as typical wrinkle injections elsewhere on the face.
Botox Lip Flip Cost
How Much Does a Toronto Botox Lip Flip Cost?
Botox Lip flip usually requires just 4 to 8 units of product. Aesthetic clinics will vary in their pricing, but average costs are significantly less than for forehead treatment.
You can expect to pay between $150 and $250 CAD. (Prices are subject to change with time.)
