A Brow lift is also commonly called the Forehead lift. It is considered an excellent surgical option for patients who typically have sagging brows and forehead skin. The heavy brow line can result in patients finding that their eyes look tired and their upper lids heavy. Another main area of concern is that patients have deeper horizontal wrinkles running across the forehead. The brow lift is a rejuvenation surgery that will create a more youthful appearance in the brow and forehead and indirectly in the upper eyelids.
The brow lift repositions the brow to create a beautifully arced and younger look. The forehead lift addresses the contour of the forehead and repositions the brow. The operation involves the removal of excess skin and the tightening or partial removal of the select facial muscles responsible for the drop in brow position. It also smoothes the forehead, removes wrinkles between the eyes, and to a degree can cause the eyes to look more open and alert. The surgery is done under general anesthesia and usually takes 60 to 90 minutes to perform. There are several brow lift techniques that a facial plastic surgeon may use. Dr. Torgerson will choose the best method to address the individual patient’s needs. After a consultation in his Toronto Facial Cosmetic Clinic, Dr. Torgerson will develop a surgical plan that will best correct the problem area and create balance to the upper third of the face. The three basic types of brow lift surgery are the endoscopic lift (several small incisions) and brow reshaping, the classical or coronal forehead lift (one longer incision), and the limited incision brow lift (one incision on each side behind the hairline in the temple). Often patients will combine a brow lift (forehead lift) with a Facelift and/or eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty).
The result of facial plastic surgery, specifically facial rejuvenation, should be a very natural, balanced, youthful, and rested appearance. In the past, brow lift surgery tended to leave people with a surprised look due to the eyebrows being lifted too high up onto the forehead. A well-trained and experienced Facial Plastic Surgeon such as Dr. Torgerson will ensure that the most aesthetically pleasing and natural results will be achieved. Current techniques employed by a Head and Neck specialist means consistent, natural, and youthful results achieved in a safe, reputable environment. At Dr. Torgerson’s Facial Plastic Clinic, clients will be able to browse through patient before and after photos to see some of the incredible results that can be achieved with a forehead lift. Not all browlift patients are comfortable with their photos being visible online; however, many have given permission for in-office use, so you can view additional before and after browlift photos in our Toronto office.
Yes! It is very common for patients to combine their browlift with other surgical and non-surgical procedures. Some of the options can include a neck lift, face lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), or CO2 laser. A great benefit of adding additional surgical procedures onto your browlift is hat your recovery time is still the same (it’s not lengthened), yet you’ll be able to correct multiple key areas during the same period of time instead of waiting for another opportunity.
Patients will be able to see the brow lift results as soon as the swelling begins to subside. Full results will emerge within a few months.
Brow lift surgery is temporary and is the best solution available for a sagging brow. Because we all will continue to age and see the effects of aging, the results of a brow lift should last 10 to 15 years before you may want to revisit the procedure.
Brow lift Surgery is performed by Dr. Torgerson in his Yorkville, Toronto, private Surgical Facility, which is inspected and approved by the Provincial Governing Body on a regular basis. There are many benefits to booking surgery at a private health care centre. Some include nursing care that is elevated to an exceptional standard and is more personalized. Furthermore, hospitals will often bump elective cases, such as plastic surgery, in order to accommodate emergency surgeries of another nature. Having the assurance that your surgery will proceed as scheduled creates peace of mind for patients booking cosmetic surgery at Dr. Torgerson’s private facility. It also means patients can choose their surgical date according to what works within their schedule. A hospital will only have availability within certain confines, but a private surgery centre is better able to schedule staffing to your convenience and book accordingly. Here is an example of some inspection notes from the assessments that the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario made of Dr. Torgerson’s Surgery Centre:
Following a Forehead lift, Dr. Torgerson will prescribe patients antibiotics as a preventative measure against infection, as well as pain medication to ensure their comfort in the days following the surgical procedure. After spending an average of 2 to 3 hours in our recovery room post-surgery, patients will be able to return to the comfort of their own home on the same day. Dr. Torgerson’s office requests that all patients have a family member or friend accompany them home and care for them for the first 24 hours. The sutures will come out in 1 week, and swelling and bruising can be expected for up to 2 weeks. However, most patients feel ready to go out and about after 1 week. Dr. Torgerson’s office will also send home detailed instructions for post-op care as part of the Patient Cosmetic Surgery Kit when the browlift surgery date is selected and booked. Dr. Torgerson also makes sure that each cosmetic surgery patient is given his private contact phone number to use 24/7 if they have any questions or concerns in the days following surgery. Post-operative appointments with Dr. Torgerson are booked on a regular basis. Brow lift patients are also welcome to schedule follow-up appointments at their leisure if they would like to meet with Dr. Torgerson at any time outside of the regularly booked consults.
