Everything You Need to Know About Brow Lift Surgery

A brow lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure for people who want to lift their brows and the surrounding tissue.

Aging causes the skin to droop with the natural force of gravity, leading to skin that eventually loses its tautness, volume, and youthful qualities. A consultation with a certified and experienced cosmetic surgeon is the best way to determine if you are a suitable candidate for a browlift. A consultation helps the surgeon identify the patient’s cosmetic goals and provides the patient with educational information on their options as well as the safety precautions and risks associated with the procedure, based on the patient’s medical history.

A Brow Lift Can Improve:

The appearance of wrinkling on the eyelids

Wrinkles that have developed on the forehead

Wrinkles on the nose and between the eyes

Frown lines

The drooping effects of hooded eyelids that start to sag after a certain age

Who Is An Ideal Candidate?

Ideal candidates for a browlift procedure are healthy men and women who do not have any life-threatening illnesses or medical conditions that can impair healing. Ideal brow lift candidates are non-smokers. Patients who do smoke must stop smoking for several weeks before and after surgery to prevent poor scar wound healing. Browlift procedures are not appropriate for people with very thin or thinning hair, a receding hairline, or baldness.

Endoscopic Brow Lift Or Endoscopic Forehead Lift

Small incisions are made behind the hairline, elevating the entire forehead and brows to a higher position. The skin of the forehead is positioned into its new higher position with small dissolvable anchors inside the bone. The incisions are closed with staples, and patients return to their plastic surgeon one week afterwards to have them removed.

How Is It Performed?

The browlift can be paired with other procedures like laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and neurotoxin injections to fully relax muscles prior to repositioning.

Brow lift patients often pair their procedure with other cosmetic procedures like a blepharoplasty to help rejuvenate the entire upper portion of the face. Technique considerations for browlift procedures are decisions made by your performing facial plastic surgeon based on your facial attributes and anatomy, hairline position, and the final desired outcome for the appearance of your face. The surgical technique is also influenced by the degree of improvement required to realistically achieve the desired outcome.

What Type Of Sedation Do I Need?

Browlift surgery is an out-patient procedure generally performed under general anaesthesia where the patient is fully unconscious during the operation. The type of sedation will be discussed by your facial plastic surgeon during your consultation, based on your surgical agenda.

How Long Does Surgery Take?

Browlift surgery can be completed in about 1 to 2 hours. Brow lifts are often paired with a blepharoplasty or mini facelift procedure, which will entail a longer operation.

Where Will I Have My Incision Scars?

The endoscopic browlift method is the preferred method of procedure for most cases because the surgery is minimally invasive, the scars are well concealed within the hairline, and it does not require the removal of an excess amount of skin.

How Is The Recovery Process?

Recovery from brow lift surgery is quicker compared to other anti-aging surgical procedures for the face. Patients are required to wear a head compression garment for 3 to 5 days after their surgery, returning to their plastic surgeon’s office within 3 to 5 days of their procedure to have the staples or stiches removed. Patients can expect to resume their normal activities 10 to 14 days after surgery. Browlift surgery is minimally invasive with concealed scars inside the hairline. This means that patients are able to go out with no detectable signs of surgery post procedure.
